They always promise 99.9% up time, as you don’t have time to monitor the web site whether it is visible in the internet you can find some companies which will inform you of the web site's down time. if you get the Down time alert you have to contact the web hosting company through their contact page and inform them. It is your duty to take backups of your files time to time. If any fatal error occur in the server all your files may gone missing. Although the hosting company will say they will recover the data for you.But in many cases the Data stored in the databases never come back fully. A hacker can erase all the data. A Lightning can destroy the server with the data. Also there are chances for the hosting company to go bankrupt as most of the companies are alive in the internet, you may loose not only your data but also your money. So take care in the process of selecting a good hosting company.
